If you have a baby who is 8+ months old, it can realistically be a goal to have them sleeping 11-12 hours every night. Does that sound like your babies current sleep time frame? Families I work with don't think it's possible... BUT! It is! I'm here to re-assure you that, if you're ready to make a change, and you're sleep training safely and properly then you should be seeing your little one sleeping 11-12 hours each night.

I recently asked on instagram for issues they are facing with their little ones sleep. I continue to see a trend among the results. Parents wanted to learn more about why it’s so hard for an overtired baby to fall asleep and stay asleep. I completely understand why anyone would like to learn more because it can be pretty confusing, considering that as adults, we typically sleep better when tired.

When I work with families who are wanting better sleep (specifically night time sleep) I will always ask what their bedtime routine looks like. Usually, if there is night waking or trouble sleeping at night it can be circled back to bedtime routine.
